APPLY FOR A SERVICE DOG

To apply for a service dog, click on the APPLICATION button below. Our Applicant Review Committee meets around the end of September.  We are currently planning our 2023 litters.  Each puppy awarded comes with a $2,500 scholarship to be used with a credentialed trainer of the recipient's choice. The number of puppies selected for service will depend on available funding.

Some of the items the committee will consider when evaluating applications include the following:

1. Need - what is the nature of your need? We are currently not providing dogs for therapy or emotional support.  We are looking to provide dogs for task-trained service such as ability assistance, diabetes alert, or seizure alert, If you are not sure if your medical condition qualifies, submit an application and we will review it. 
2. Financial Ability to Care for a Dog - While 4Gold has a mission to help provide training for services dogs, the daily care and veterinary needs must be provided by the recipient, so we will evaluate your ability to cover the costs for proper care of a service dog. 
3. Brand Ambassador - We will also consider how well you will represent 4Gold in your public interactions and we will want to maintain contact and receive updates about your progress with your companion. 
4. Household - Is everyone in your household on board with having a dog and able to be around dogs? Our current dogs are golden retrievers and they do shed, so anyone who has allergies or family members with allergies would be discouraged from applying for Golden Retrievers. HOWEVER, we do have connections to a breeder of Golden Doodles,  so if our fundraising efforts are sufficient then we do plan to add Golden Doodles to our options as we grow.
